Milltown Quilters, Ellicott City, Maryland
Milltown Quilters became a member of the National Quilting Association, Inc. (NQA) in 1983 and was chartered as Chapter 214. Initially, Milltown activities were conducted at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Ellicott City.
In March 1997, a group of women, including some of the original members, founded Milltown Quilters as it exists today. Our stated purpose is to “perpetuate the heritage of quilting and to promote and stimulate fellowship and education
among those interested in quilting.” Members are asked to participate in the activities of the organization.
In addition to educational workshops, both from nationally known teachers and our own talented members, we hold lectures open to all who are interested. We sponsor bus trips to area quilting events and an annual retreat. A newsletter, Milltown News, highlighting our activities is published monthly.
Our efforts to contribute to our community are ongoing. Our Friendship Quilts are given to many different organizations in Howard County and our neighboring counties. We hold a Quilt Show biannually, featuring a Raffle Quilt made by our members to raise funds to ensure continuation of all of our activities.
